The villa was fantastic! We could view the volcano from the balcony while eating on the back deck or swimming in the pool. Beds were extremely comfortable and overall the villa was well equipped and clean. A car is needed, but this allows you to drive to the various lookouts to see more views of the volano, and also visit the Montserrat Volcano Observatory, which is only a few minutes away. Great meals at the Gourmet Gardens and fantastic food at Ziggy's. Even got to meet Sir George Martin! And of course one cannot forget Picket (the manager) who was always available to answer questions and take care of us when we needed him. I will visit Montserrat again, and would stay at Pimenta without any hesitation
A fantastic adventure in comfortable surroundings.Hot Hot Hot
We did have a wonderful time at both places but fell in love with Montserrat. What a "BEAUTIFUL PARADISE". And your home is lovely. We are going back! Thank you for sharing your home with us.
Thank you November 2011
The
villas were great, I especially liked the Villa Pimenta where my family and
I stayed. The amenities made us feel right at home, my son was even able to
attach is Wii. I also didn't get a chance to write a memento in the
memoir book for Ian and Joanne the home owners. Please share with them if
you will that my family and I felt right at home. The emphasis to detail
(down to seasonings) and the thoughtful touches ( pool toys, the volcano
survival kit etc) were much appreciated. I enjoyed having dinner outside on
the veranda with friends and colleagues while enjoying a spectacular view.
We plan to make the Montserrat medical mission "blood pressure without
borders" an annual event and I would certainly love to stay at the Villa
Pimenta again.
Thank you

The house is beautiful more then the pictures show, the view is fantastic: the volcano on the left, the sea on the right you're never tired to watch it! Everything that you can think of you have it, we could even watch the hockey games on the internet!!! You have to have a car, the supermarket are not great, but you can survive if you dont expect to find gourmet food. The people of the island are very nice and smiling and helpful in anyway. It was a great relaxing vacation, thank you for sharing your house with us.
Heaven on Montserrat

Breathtaking views from spacious luxury"
Booked this lovely villa hassle free and was very pleasantly surprised when I arrived. The photos don't give you the sense of space that's really there. There was a lovely welcome note, information on the villa and area and an itinerary of events for the St. Patrick's day festival left by the neighbour Susan who manages the property. The master bedroom is very comfortable and large and the ensuite bathroom has a shower room you could party in! The second (twin) bedroom has 2 very comfortable beds next to the main bathroom. The apartment below is a spacious secluded living area and is ideal if there is more than 3 in your party. It has a double bed and another fold away idea that can be placed in the living area. The pool is positioned perfectly to catch the sun all day and is great for cooling off if you start to feel the heat. The villa has no Air Conditioning as it is unnecessary with the cool breeze that continually blows on the island and throughout the house when the windows are open. The veranda boasts a large wicker table and chairs that can sit 6 comfortably or more if you squeeze up and cooking is easy with a great range of utensils in the kitchen and the oversize cooker and microwave yet the piece de resistance is the massive gas barbeque on the veranda. The view from the veranda is astounding from the volcano on your left to the beach and non-stop Caribbean sea to the right. This villa is definitely worth staying in, yet if you want to see all of the island a car is absolutely necessary as it is quite far south close to the exclusion zone. We will be back!!
Breathtaking views from spacious luxury March 2011
We motor-sailed on the owner's boat from Antigua and saw a turtle, dolphins, and whales on the way there & back! The villa is fantastic - beautifully decorated and with a view to die for: how can you argue with full volcano vue on the left and miles of ocean on the right with the old golf course in the middle. Rooms are spacious, with views, and lovely and the kitchen well-stocked and huge. Hosts Joanne and Ian were gracious and informative and gave us a wonderful tour of the island. We were grateful for a dip in the pool after our walk along the local beach (just a few minutes walk from the villa). Dinner with local characters one evening was icing on the cake. We will definitely recommend Villa Pimenta to friends visiting Montserrat.

Hi Joanne, We had a great time at your place! What we were looking for
in this vacation was to get totally de-stressed and get away from our
jobs. We reached the point where we did not know what day it was so I
guess we accomplished our goal! Susan at Tradewinds was very helpful to
us and is a very sweet person. Troy and Melody at the Green Monkey gave
us many days of enjoyment with boat rides and kayak rentals. Our last
full day we got alot of dust from the "Golf Course" but really no issues
from that or the Volcano. Thank you for helping us have a great
get-a-way.Best Regards Brian and Cathy

We absolutely loved Montserrat.............and are already planning our next trip!
My husband and I are looking into buying a villa on the island
May 2010

Your villa is absolutely beautiful..everything we could have imagined. Our friends and us flipped a coin to see who would get the master bedroom and unfortunately we lost...The twin bed room was comfortable but the nights were so hot, therefore we had a difficult time sleeping. The only change I think would be nice would be to have a usable dresser in that bedroom as we ended up living out of our suitcases
The weather was great as we are told it had been the best since the collapse of the dome. Winston was great... we had him take us on a tour of the island and he was very informative. Originally we thought that this would be a week of R&R but we kept very busy trying to see what we could. Such devastation in Plymouth... I can't remember hearing about the volcano at the time but I can see what can happen, with the activity right now in Iceland.
We met Susan and she was great..as all the people we met in Montserrat...very friendly indeed. We were sure to drink the water...so perhaps another time.....
Take care
Debbie

Just came back to San Diego. Your house is beautiful and the view is spectacular. I could have spent hours just sitting on the deck enjoying the view. We did some diving and my kids got certified. Everyone enjoyed the beaches - most of the time we felt like we were the only people on the island using them! It is true - people are very friendly. Susan was having a party and invited us to her house and people we met there were wonderful. We got to know her son Luke a bit since he was one of our scuba diving instructors as well as Troy and Melody at the Green Monkey. We ate at Oliveti's twice and used their tennis court almost every day. We also ate at Tina's and had lunch twice at John's next to the dive shop. In fact, we met him the very first day and kept in touch through the week. We tried to arrange for a fishing trip but the weather did not co-operate. We wanted fresh fish and by the end of our stay the fisherman that we kept on talking to just got us some fish for our last night's dinner which was very nice. We did a lot of driving exploring and, of course, the volcano was fascinating

We loved the villa! It was the highlight of our trip. I must confess to being ignorant of the challenges of Montserrat. To see an island in the midst of rebuilding was humbling. We were mesmerisized by the activities of the volcano from the villa. Good luck to you and the little "Phoenix" in the Caribbean.
Thanks,
Arden

Villa Pimenta is a fantastic home. It is spacious and airy with luxury appointments, including cookware and fixtures. It's all new! The view from the terrace and the pool is breathtaking -- not just the blue blue water but the live action volcano! The glowing lava flow at night was truly something to behold. Several good restaurants in the neighborhood, but the island is so small that you really aren't more than 20 minutes or so by car from anything. The people are incredibly friendly. For pure relaxation without feeling pressured to "experience" anything (long-distance hiking, jet boating, parasailing, bunji jumping, etc) other than a view, fantastic sleeping and a lovely swimming pool, this is the place to be. And the property owners and managers are super friendly, helpful and accommodating. Hope to get back soon.

This property is perfect for those who truly want to "get away from it all". Travelled with our 3 teenagers, and had our best family vacation yet. Lots of relaxing, and lots of together time exploring. Where else in the Caribbean can you have a beach to yourself? Volcano was fascinating. Island people laid back and friendly. Villa is beautiful - exactly as it appears. High quality interior furnishings and accessories. Beds extremely comfortable. Lots of room. The wrap around patio overlooking the ocean was hard to leave! HIke to Rendevous Bay was taxing - but so worth it! Don't go looking for sophistication and commercialization. Just enjoy the Caribbean the way it was before developers turned the other islands into a mini USA!

From the moment we first arrived we were awestruck by the beauty and atmosphere created by the breath taking views and lovely accommodations. We enjoyed our relaxing seclusion poolside, deck side, inside, outside and when we ventured out to explore the island everyone we met was nice and friendly. The atmosphere of the island is like going back in time to the 1960's. The pictures and description of the Villa are great, but the experience of having stayed there is awesome. We will definitely be returning in the future. This is definitely a place to go when you don't want the hustle and bustle of a tourist trap island. The kitchen is very accommodating and user friendly, but a night out for dinner at the Olveston House should be a staple to everyone that visits. The stars at night are incredible, and the sunsets are truly amazing.

Mark knew what the villa looked like before the renovations, and congratulates you on a fantastic job. It is truely inspiring for us, who are in the early stages of a similar and daunting project!
The attention to even the smallest details were well thought of and added to our comfortable stay.
From the sunrise over the volcano, to the sunset over the Caribbean sea, the views from the villa are spectacular, throughout the day.
We can highly recommend Villa Pimenta and will look no further for a wonderful place to stay, should our own renovations take longer than planned.Thank you for sharing your great vacation villa!

We stayed at Villa Pimenta in mid-March 2009, as a party of three, two adults plus our 7-year-old child. The villa was perfect! Our daughter loved the pool and we liked the fact that it's nicely laid out with plenty of deck space. As a parent, I don't like cramped decks and kids may trip more easily on deck furniture etc. The villa is beautifully and very tastefully decorated: great furniture choices! And the kitchen is equipped with quality cooking gear such as All Clad pots and pans, very sharp knives and plenty of utensils so you won't be frustrated while cooking meals. (I've stayed at cottages where the kitchen equipment is clearly an afterthought or from the dollar store: unsharp knives, old pots and pans etc). We enjoyed cooking our own meals and using the top-of-the-lie barbecue on the wraparound deck with a view to the Old Road Bay. Lots of space, a beautiful front courtyard, laundry downstairs, and wonderous views of the sea and volcano make this an awesome property. We also loved the fact that there were plenty of bath and beach towels. The bedrooms are very comfortable. The villa is spotlessly clean, and while yes, you will need a rental car, driving around affords you a great opportunity to explore the island. A hen wandered onto the lawn, mountain chickens (giant toads) came out at night on the lawn, and terns visited during the day. It's a beautiful property and extremely, extremely well priced compared to some of the other properties on the island, which offer fewer amenities and space. This property would be perfect for couples, a group, and families. We chose it in part b/c the layout allowed us to watch our child by the pool at all times: from the deck, from the living room, from the kitchen, and even from the master bedroom. The property manager and owner were very nice to deal with and we will be back soon, we hope! 10 out of 10!

Just wanted to let you know we had a marvellous week in Montserrat. Your villa was amazing - beautifully decorated and luxuriously equipped, and didn't seem at all crowded with 7 of us! We thoroughly enjoyed the wrap-around deck and pool ... and spent many hours on/in both. While we were there, we experienced a lahar, and spent quite a bit of time exploring the after-affects of the mudflats by the beach. We found the people so friendly and interesting, loved touring (Garibaldi Hill and Jack Boy Hill were highlights, as was the MVO), and were grateful for Susan's restaurant recommendations, with Olveston House being our favourite. Our trip over with the OnDeck yacht from Antigua was a great adventure, and we thoroughly enjoyed it. I'd maybe recommend flying back ... the return trip goes against the wind and is therefore much choppier, as well as quite late in the day. All in all though, a fabulous holiday in a lovely home on a beautiful island ... thank you

Fantastic week at Villa Pimenta, very very relaxing. The Villa has been beautifully updated with brand new kitchen and bathrooms etc. Spent most days around the pool soaking up the sun and enjoying the amazing ocean amd Volcano views. Very quite during the week but on the weekends local pubs are quite lively and fun to go out for a couple of drinks. Lots off great hikes, deserted beaches and friendly locals. Enjoyed a few meals out (especially the Royal Palm), fresh seafood from fisherman, and fresh fruit from the numerous fruit trees in the local gardens! Thanks very much, definatly will be back! That pool was awesome!

Villa Pimenta for Christmas

Our family of 5 enjoyed Christmas here. It was a wonderful villa - just as advertised. Well equipped kitchen, comfortable beds, great pool, interesting views of the volcano and the ocean from both the covered deck and poolside. We were picked up at the ferry dock by Winston (we also rented an SUV from him) and taken to our villa where there was a stocked fridge (prearranged with property manager) and shortly after dinner was delivered by Simon (also prearranged). I highly recommend that you do the same! House was clean and well maintained as were the gardens. We enjoyed New Year's dinner at the local restaurant "Gourmet Gardens" - try their rum punch! Good hike over the mountain to Rendezvous Bay at the other end of Montserrat - pack your snorkelling gear in for some good snorkelling there (to the right as you face the water). Boat charter with Green Monkey Charters - Troy took us to view Plymouth from the water and had a good running commentary on what we saw along the way. We even caught a barracuda for dinner on the way back!

"We all really enjoyed our stay in the Villa Pimenta. It is a beautiful home, really relaxing and comfortable. The grounds and pool are lovely and the view from the deck and pool area is absolutely stunning!
Our hosts were extremely helpful, providing us with all kinds of information regarding our entertainment, finding great beaches, restaurants etc and giving great advice about fishing trips and other adventures.
The island and its volcano are fascinating as well as beautiful.
Without a doubt a memorable vacation and we all hope to return one day.
Many thanks to our very special hosts."

"Wonderful holiday!"

Montserrat was the real treasure trove! It is an easy fifteen minute or so flight over on a nine passenger twin engine Islander high wing STOL plane (watch your luggage weight as there is a 23 kilo cap!) Villa Pimenta (The Orange Villa) is really special – totally renovated with spectacular views of the Volcano (Soufriere, which is still venting) the ocean and everything in between. Mr. T (Winston) was there to pick me up and also is the best tour guide for an island tour. He rents cars too and driving here is much quieter and easier than Antigua.
Again, people asked why go to Montserrat, as there is nothing to do. Precisely! You have to make your own way but there a lot of expats about, there are some fine restaurants to enjoy, the prices most fair, and while the expats grumble about having to “forage” at various food stores, you won’t starve and it is really fun to get back to basic cooking from scratch. The people are really friendly, and Susan, the owner’s property manager lives right next door and is very accommodating.
The Villa has three separate sleeping quarters all with en suites, so it can handle three couples with ease. There is no AC and it is not needed, and the pool is the place where you can really cool off.
I was so impressed with Montserrat that I re-booked and am heading back there the first two weeks of January, 2011.
My recommendation, if you want to get away from it all, to become calm, to relax, Vila Pimenta is for you. You are not isolated, as the Villa has cable TV and Wi-Fi. The kitchen has everything you will need plus the BBQ on the deck is a man’s delight
I decided when I come down in January to bypass Antigua – I will simply land, clear customs, and hop on Fly Montserrat and be at home by six o’clock the same day.
Villa Pimenta in Montserrat is an “out of the way must.” You will enjoy it immensely and I give it a five star rating.
